Duct Survey
Subvision Surveys provides duct surveys, mapping the route, condition and capacity of underground cable ducting used to carry power, telecoms and data cables. This information is essential before new cables are installed, before excavation near existing ducting, or when assessing whether existing ducts can accommodate additional cabling.
What a Duct Survey Involves
Our team uses duct rodding and CCTV camera equipment to inspect the inside of underground ducts, identifying blockages, damage, collapses or restrictions that could prevent a cable being pulled through. The camera survey records clear footage of the duct’s internal condition along its full length, giving you an accurate picture of whether a duct is fit for use, in need of repair, or unsuitable for further cabling.
Mapping Duct Routes and Capacity
Alongside condition assessment, we trace and map the route of existing duct networks, recording their position, depth and any changes in direction or connection points. This is particularly useful where duct records are incomplete, out of date, or missing entirely, which is common on older sites or where ducting was installed by multiple contractors over time. Understanding both the route and the remaining capacity of existing ducts helps avoid unnecessary excavation for new ducting where existing infrastructure could be reused.
Why Duct Surveys Matter
Installing new cables into a duct that’s damaged, blocked or undersized can cause delays, additional cost and abortive works if the problem is only discovered mid-installation. A Buried Duct Survey identifies these issues in advance, giving telecoms providers, utility companies and contractors the confidence to plan cable installation or duct repair work accurately, rather than working from assumptions or incomplete as-built records.
Why Choose Subvision for Duct
Subvision Surveys is SSIP and ISO accredited, with a team of over 25 surveying professionals delivering duct surveys for contractors, developers and utility providers across London, the South East and nationwide.
